About the Health Related Productivity Questionnaire (HRPQ)
Overview
The HRPQ is a self-administered patient-reported outcomes instrument. The core sections of the instrument measure the impact of health on the functioning of patients across employed work and activities in the home through the completion of seven items.
Optional Sections of the HRPQ
- An optional 3-item section dealing with productivity associated with academic activities can be added when studying those disease states involving adolescents or those in higher education.
- An optional 5-item section can be added to collect information regarding the lifetime impact of a disease state on employment.
Versions of the HRPQ
- The HRPQ is most commonly used in disease-specific versions. This is done be inserting the name of the disease of interest at key points across the questions administered. For example, the instrument has been used in clinical trials and health research investigating Crohn's disease, endometriosis, migraine, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, ulcerative colitis, and others.
- The HRPQ can also be administered using a generic instrument measuring the impact of "illnesses".
- There is also a diary form of the HRPQ which can be used for short-term illnesses where a rapid change in functioning is expected.
Available Translations
- The HRPQ has been translated for use in more than 30 countries around the world with multiple translations per country where appropriate (e.g., Hebrew, Arabic, and Russian for Israel. Language translations for administration in disease states for which translations are not currently available are easily adapted by replacement of the disease state name resulting in minimal cost for the new adaptation.
